Worst Wordle Ever

SMILE

PROWL

PHLOX (valid guess; not a possible solution)

POLYP

Today I got that dreaded "There was only one possible solution left — and this wasn’t it. (_____ is a valid guess, but it’s unlikely to be a solution based on what I’ve learned from playing Wordle.) But there’s still only one solution remaining. You should solve the puzzle on your next turn."

Fie on the irrational bot! Fie, I say!

And the Wordlebot would respond that 'Fie' is not 5 letters.

I got the same thing... Grrrr! Meanwhile, Wordlebot is a big fat cheater. Going from a completely unrelated word to a solution in two or three words. Outrageous! A couple of months ago, it went from first word slate to winning word diner in one step. What???

sometimes I don't get the Wordlebot "luck" and "skill" calculation. One of my guesses today that eliminated all but 2 of the remaining 13 words was scored 49 for Skill and 76 for Luck.  I don't get why the word was so low on Skill, because it eliminated a couple of common letter combinations. And if it was so low on Skill, why wasn't it higher on Luck?

Harrumph.

What does that mean? Where are you getting that graphic?

The Statistics page includes a “Did you beat the bot?” link, which leads to a guess-by-guess analysis of your play.

What that column from a screenshot means is that, having narrowed the possible solution down do just five words in two turns, I only barely missed guessing all four wrong ones and losing.

After 3 attempt there were 2 words left. I chose the wrong one on attempt 4 and the wordlebot gave me a skill score of 0.

Wtf?

Hmm. Mine doesn't look like that. If it did, though, it would be more like this:

No

No

No

No

No

Yes

I got 0 on my fifth guess — a desperate reach with an alternate spelling. My thinking: Either Wordle accepts it, which means it’s a possible solution, or it doesn’t and it costs me nothing.

Wordle accepted it and then scolded me for believing Wordle would ever stoop to use such a word. A 0 like that has happened to me before, but do I ever learn? No, I do not.

The solution finally came to me in a “Duh” moment.

Now that the spoiler period is over, here’s what more of the page looks like, if if helps.

And I get to it from this page, which appears automatically after the Wordle is solved.

yeah, it gives some weird **** explanation like - "that is a real word, but from what I've learned, it's very unlikely to be a solution"

Don't understand why that gets you a 0 skill score, especially when in my case it eliminated all but the correct answer.

but maybe if there wasn't the occasional annoying puzzle, Wordle wouldn't be as fun.
