I WAS going to write that she should have given you 69 but once I said it out loud I decided not to add it.
Wait I just added it. Dammit.
$7 and it would have been $7.55 if I had gotten my change.

I’m more interested in the tip you gave her…

I get not wanting to deal with change but either round down to the lower dollar or only charge dollar amounts.
Absolutely.

most bars don’t give you the coins, they kinda expect you to leave that as part of the tip. But for their accounting they have to print out the exact amount, including coins in your bill. Rounding out the numbers will mess up their accounts.
Yes I agree, this shouldn’t have made you mad… it’s standard procedure these days.

huh. Never seen that practice before. Now I know! And I hate coins. I never ever take them. I'll $.99 change on a counter!
@jeffl, did you check at the register if this is in fact house policy? If not shwe should get $0 from you and wallow in her .55 stealings!

Went for a drink at Blue Morel in the Governor Morris Westin tonight. The bill is $31.45. Give the waitress $100. She gives me $68 in change. Exactly. Of course I don't care about 55 cents but I had to ask. "Why isn't my change $68.55?" "Oh, we don't use change."
Okay. I get not wanting to deal with change but either round down to the lower dollar or only charge dollar amounts.
Am I an old man screaming at the sky?
look at you, Mr. Moneybags, walking around with a stack of hundred dollar bills.
Some places won't take $100 bills (or even $50's) due to counterfeiting.

It's easier to pass counterfeit $20s because no one bats an eye at them. They have to be bad to have anyone double-check...

It amuses me up when cashiers check to see if bills are counterfeit. I have a hard time believing most employers provide any relevant training for spotting fake bills.

My favorite... City Market on Irvington Avenue. So I pay with a roll of dimes. She takes the roll and puts it on the scale and accepts it. This surprised me as a good way to make sure the roll was complete.
Me: So how much does a roll of dimes weigh?
Her: "I don't know."
BY THE WAY. City Market has two rows of "foreign foods." Russian, Jamaican, and other items that I have never seen in any other market. I've gotten some good stuff out of there that I would have never known about.
