Meet the Mets (For Mets Fans Only!)

So if the Mets can just play .571 ball the rest of the way they should win the World Series. That’s math.

I was never great at math, but that means winning slightly more than half of their games. Doesn't sound unreasonable.

And was even before the June 1st benchmark. Hey, I'm nothing if not a spreader of positivity. ;-)

Thx for the cite. #TheMagicIsBack

Also, I'm thinking of Jerry Ryan tonight. During the 2015 postseason run Soul29 arranged viewing parties and Jerry was there each night cheering for "DANIEL MURPHY!!"

Jerry would be loving this.

"FRANCISCO LINDOR!!"

grin

I miss this ficking guy.

Ya Gotta Believe!!

Flaherty looks strong so far but there’s a lotta ball left to play.

They are all smarter than me, but Garrett looked sharp.  I would have given him a chance.  Let's see what happens.

Yeah I agree I would have left him in a few more batters.

This is turning ugly.

I am trying to believe. The Dodgers are locked in at the plate. The Mets batters seem to be now just be swinging away at everything.

En route to the title in '86, the Mets lost Game 1 in both the NLCS and World Series, the latter at home. Just saying.

This is a totally fair comment. But they just looked so helpless last night the Los Angeles pitching seems superhuman and the Mets pitchers seemed overmatched. I know it’s just the first game, but last night was just a tough opener to the series.

If we get a typical Manaea start today maybe things will turn around.

Seems like a good time to preemptively remind that in the '86 WS the Mets lost games one AND two...both at home...and still came back to win it all.

My fingers remain crossed.

Why is it that being up three in the 8th doesn’t feel like the Mets are in the drivers seat?

Nice win last night!  A few moments of anxiety but I still have some hair left to pull out so it was manageable. If they could figure out how to cut down on the walks, they’d be unstoppable.

A split in LA, a travel day and back to Citifield tomorrow. I’ll take it. This is the first good look I have personally had at the Dodgers this year. They’re a force to be reckoned with so I’m happy the Mets grabbed the win last night.

That win proves that the Mets can score off of the Dodgers, there is not any magic preventing it.  But I agree, the walks are murder.  There are too many HR hitters on the Dodgers to allow free runners ahead of them.

yet another boneheaded baserunning blunder by CHISOLM.  A bad ballplayer with a worse attitude.

It's ChisHolm, with an h.

Attitude? Hmmm.

We don't allow Yankee talk here.  cheese

A crushing defeat tonight.  One more chance to grab a game at home.

The hill to climb is very high.

The Dodgers are walking their way into the WS.

And pitching their way. If the Mets batters can’t generate some offense it makes the pitching staff pitch more defensively. But yeah the Dodgers are showing great plate discipline.

Again with the verdammt walks.

Plagued by them all year. I’ll take the W!

Ok, so as long as they score 12 runs every game going forward they can get past the Dodgers.

I’ll take the W as well. The Dodgers are an outstanding team and I know it’s an uphill battle to win this series.  I was very discouraged that the Mets were just getting pummeled, and worried that their exit from the playoffs would be ignominious. I’m obviously more hopeful now, but even if they don’t advance I feel better about how hard they played.

They didn’t strike out once?!!!
