Regarding any assisted living facility.... How much reserve money do you/she have? Does the facility have provisions for medicaid if/when funds run out? If not, consider somewhere else.
Also, have you consulted an elder law attorney? It costs money but can save a lot in the long run.
Finally, were either her or her spouse veteran?
Our son's in-laws will be moving there later this year. They're away for the winter and then have to sell their house when they come back, but they've already put a deposit down. They have friends there who love it.

Curious on how it helps if your spouse was a veteran?
There are benefits to combat veterans that will help them with assisted living if/when funds are exhausted. They and their spouses are also entitled to residence at V.A. facilities when their funds are exhausted.
My father was at Iwo Jima. She received room, board and medical care for the last year of her life.
I bring this up when posting about senior assisted living because it is not common knowledge nor well advertised by the V.A. My mother was eligible for assistance for several years before a co-worker told me to look into it.

This may not be true in all cases. Best to check with VA to determine benefits which can vary based on when, where, and for how long the veteran served. Closest VA office is in Newark. Major veterans organizations have service officers who can also help with this.
