I'd like to see it....but not at 1st...1st of all it won't be fully open for a long time and it will be extremely crowded at 1st...so may be a yer after it is fully opened...but there are rumors there will be a parking fee which may make me change my mind....it would be different if I planned on doing serious shopping, but to pay just to look around and maybe try out an over priced restaurant is not worth it.

What new mall? I'm now in SC, and haven't heard of a new mall. Who is so shortsighted to do this?
american dream in the meadowlands.
it has been YEARS in the making...it is more of a rec center than a mall...ice skating, ski slope, amusement park....with some stores.
The Star Ledger article describes all that's NOT ready there. Basic things such as whether and how much it would cost to park.
The whole development seems like a business plan inspired by "The Producers" - get a lot of dollars poured in and used up, and it's better if it's a flop.
I wouldn't mind seeing the rink. My son plays hockey and ice time is tough to get.

Thanks...It's been so long in development, I had totally forgotten about it. It might be worth going once, as entertainment.
https://www.cnn.com/2019/10/20/us/giant-nickelodeon-theme-park-new-jersey-trnd/index.html
(CNN)All your favorite Nickelodeon characters are coming to New Jersey.
Nickelodeon Universe, which at 8.5 acres will be the largest indoor theme park in North America, will open on October 25 at the American Dream mall in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The park features more than 35 rides, roller coasters and attractions. Nickelodeon characters such as SpongeBob, Dora The Explorer and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will be at the mall to meet. The roller coasters include one named the Shellraiser, which features a plunging 122-foot drop.
Since no Nickelodeon attraction would be complete without slime, visitors can enjoy entertainment on the Nickelodeon Slime Stage.Prices for the park are available but it is unclear when they will be on sale. A general ticket is priced at $39.99. For those interested in a more thrilling experience, there is an all-access ticket for $49.99. Children under 2 are free.Besides Nickelodeon Universe, American Dream's NHL-regulation size ice rink will open on October 25 with open skating, figure skating and hockey tournaments. In November, the DreamWorks Water Park is set to open at the mall featuring more than 40 water slides and 15 attractions.
To paraphrase Giamatti's character in Sideways: I don't do no f...... malls.

I'm looking forward to it more than a colonoscopy prep. But less than just about anything else.
FYI pretty sure none of us older folks are the target audience of this mall, though we may have been 17 years ago lol.
My kids might be interested but they are old enough to go on their own now thank god.
You have to pay for parking: https://www.nj.com/bergen/2019/10/parking-at-american-dream-will-cost-you-heres-how-much.html

Or a root canal.
I’m excited for it. I think it’ll be cool to experience. I think the kids will be excited to try the Nickelodeon park and the water park. Maybe also the skiing when it opens. I think it’s less a mall than an entertainment venue.
Shopping is not opening until the spring.
Just the amusement park for now.
some stores are supposed to be opening with this phase....sugar was supposed to be opened right away, but i heard there was a delay
Well, you know, it’s only been in the works for 15 or 20 years. Can’t rush these things!
Big article in the Times Biz section today about it. The Trump connection is there, of course.

Triple 5 anticipates bringing in 40 million visitors a year. Bad reporting because the writer neglected to even investigate what the leadership of Triple5 was smoking to arrive at such a number.

That's an average of 110,000 people per day based on 365 days per year. We know there will be no shopping on Sundays.
This is from a recent article:
"Paramus' most lucrative shopping mall rivals Disney. Westfield Garden State Plaza beckons 20 million visitors per year, nearly matching the world's most popular theme park, which draws about 20.5 million visitors per year, and dwarfing the Eiffel Tower, which sees around 7 million visitors annually."
https://pix11.com/2019/03/11/paramus-beats-hollywood-and-disney-for-shopping-and-tourism/
So they are expecting 2x the number of customers that go to the Garden State Plaza in Paramus. It has 2.1M square feet of shopping. I've seen conflicting numbers for American Dream but it will have about 3M square feet.
