Crowd background noise soundtracks

Both the NBA and NFL are using some generic crowd soundtracks as background noise attempting to run their broadcast as if there is an actual crowd.

I find this annoying as the sound is generic and the volume is raised and lowered as some assistant director in some studio decides a crowd would be louder during some play or other. It’s never on point and just ends up being white noise for no purpose.

It’s a special year, no fans, as an audience we are tuned in and we know it’s no fans.  We should be hearing player communications, coaches yelling instructions and the actual sound of the game.

Interestingly the WNBA is not piping in background noise and the game is far more watchable for me.

Don't mind it. Don't care. I am a Jets fan and have much bigger problems

But I respect your opinion.

Remember when NBC broadcast a Jets-Dolphins game without announcers? The Jets finished 4-12 that season. The Eagles went to the Super Bowl.

What was the topic again?

No, I ... hear you, hoops. The prospect of eavesdropping on the chatter was pitched to us fans as one of the upsides of silent bleachers, but it hasn't happened. And while I can't remember the exact game or situation, there was an error one Phillies game (no wonder it's a blur, there have been so many E's) when the crowd noise sounded like a groan even though the home team was at bat.

Still, I think I'd miss the low hum. If they kept it at that, which they mostly seem to do for the MLB games I've watched, that'd be fine by me.

I didn’t see this game because of the local broadcast competition, but the embedded clips don’t sound like authentic Philly booing to me.
